City Arts, Wichita, KS
City Arts began life in 1955 as The Arts & Crafts Center located at 25th & Arkansas St. The art center eventually became City Arts and moved to its current location in Old Town across from The Warren.
City Arts has been the place that I have received my hands-on photography training. I am quite certain that my rapid growth in skill level is due mostly to the classes at City Arts. The other part is practice, practice, practice. Going out to photograph every weekend has been an important part of my training.
If not for City Arts, I would not be a part of the photographic community here in Wichita. I have made a few good friends and have many acquaintances through all of the classes that I have taken. During my level five classes, I took a few photos of my fellow photographers that I am going to share with you.
The following were taken in Drury, Sumner County, KS. We photographers are a hearty lot. It was very cold at the start of our trip that day and by the end of the day were baking.
Abandoned House near Marquette
These were taken in Marquette, McPherson County, KS. This day were wet and cold. On the way out to the first location it absolutely poured. The tall grass was wet and we found out later full of ticks. Luckily all I came away with, besides awesome pictures, was wet jeans.
Kannapolis Lake Falls
Later the same day we were at Kannapolis Lake Falls, Ellsworth County, KS.
At Teter Rock, Greenwood County, KS, I got to witness some brave souls going the extra mile to get the perfect shot.
I know that I concentrated on the photography side of City Arts, but there is an amazing amount of different art classes for all ages. To see what classes are available go to https://wichita-cityarts.squarespace.com. To sign up for classes call 316-350-3245.
